Little River Elks Lodge No. 2840
Exalted Ruler's Message
January 2009
In the beginning of 2009 let's reflect on those who are in need. Not all of us received presents, have ample food, be surrounded by family or even receive more than a very few cards. These people are our family and deserve our prayerful thoughts, and our uplifting actions. If asked to act on their behalf, please try to do something. It does not always require money. A call or visit to an elderly member or couple; sick or shut in person would just appreciate your call or card. Just reach out and do something in 2009. You will be better for it and so will those you touch. Celebrate a genuine 2009.
I would like to thank each and every one of you who gives so freely of your time. Your volunteer hours mean more to us than I can even express. When you give of your hours it enables others to join us for our wonderful meals and activities thereby bringing in funds for our benevolent ventures. Let's all join and pray together that the New Year brings a much improved economy, jobs to those who need them, better health insurance, eases all of our financial woes and better security for all. Our lodge looks forward to more blessings in 2009.
We are sold out for the New Year's Eve Party hoping that all of you attend bring your smiles, personality and love of the Elks.
Remember January 11 will be our District Deputy Clinic January 19 will bring Martin Luther King Day followed by the inauguration soon to be President Barack Obama, January 29 will be the winter convention. Let's hope and pray that our new government can relieve some of the financial pressures we are under and improve life in our United States of America.
Nominations of officers will be held the first Tuesday in February. Remember we must have officers to keep the lodge moving in 2009-10. I hope every Elk will attend the meeting to make sure the glue is still stuck.
May God the Father who holds our world in his hands, Jesus the son who is the light of the world and the Holy Spirit who illumines our souls bless and keep you in this New Year.
My husband and I wish the best health, wealth, and whatever else life brings your way in 2009.
Elks Care and Elks Share.
Fraternally,
Deborah Kay Hartleroad
